Driving from Athens to Delphi
Most people opt for organized day trips to Delphi from Athens and there are many tours you can sign up for. It will either take you to Delphi by bus or meet you at Meteora which you can reach by train. Since we always love road trips where we can stop whenever and wherever we desire, driving ourselves allowed us the flexibility to control our own schedule to fit in GS's work.
Random stop - Άγιος Νεκτάριος
One fun thing about road trips is that you can detour and stop wherever you want. GS saw a sign pointing to an archaeological place right next to a dirt road and so off we went! It wasn't an easy drive, but the view at the top was worth it!
Truth to be told, we still don't know what this church at the very top of a mountain is about. We didn't find much info online nor there was any description on the site.
Hosios Loukas Holy Monastery
Next stop was a famous UNESCO site - Hosios Loukas Holy Monastery, built in the 10th century. The church is the oldest building on the site and is the first exampe of middle Byzantine architecture I've ever seen.
The site doesn't only host the church and the area is set up like a mini town square where the community could thrive and live together.
