For people coming from the North, be sure to give yourself a few days to get acclimated to the heat. Naively, I thought that since I originally came from a sub-tropical place, that I would adapt to the weather in a snap of my fingers. Turns out, that's not the case...

When we first arrived in the late afternoon, we felt great. The weather was humid but without a blazing sun. We decided to relax at our little hut on a hilltop and called it a night. The next morning, we enjoyed a wonderful large breakfast brought to the hut and then we were ready for our day tour on a scooter!

"Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning."

We didn't have much of plan and were just excited to be out and about! Our first stop was the viewpoint Laem Chamuk Khwai. Unbeknown to us, to get to this viewpoint, you have to climb over a locked gate and walk through a bush area with a very unclear trail. Because this wasn't really part of our original plan, we just ended up there, I was as unprepared as you can be for this type of bush hike. I was wearing short sleeves, short pants and without bug spray or sunscreen and I had to give up before reaching our destination after being completely eaten alive by mosquitos.

Luckily, we did have a scooter and local cellphone plan. A simple search got us to this wonderful beach side restaurant Le Bac-a-Sable that allowed us to reset and restart.

The entrance didn't look open however the host came out to greet us and walked us through the resort to the beach front area. It was peaceful and exactly what we needed at that time.

After the failed hike to the viewpoint, we decided to give kayaking in the Thalane Bay mangroves a try! Despite the fact that we missed the high tide in the morning so the mangrove area wasn't fully accessible, it was exhilarating to be in the water for 2-3 hours. This might be the most physical activity I have done since COVID.

The water was flat and clam and it seemed that kayaking in this bay was pretty easy for a first timer like me though later on I realized I had no control over the direction the kayak was heading without my partner's help. You will take in the classic views of Krabi with steep cliffs rising straight out of the water and with gorgeous mountains in the background.

The tour guide didn't speak much English and had his own canoe, which is great in this pandemic era. He paid good attention to make sure we were keeping up with his pace and took us to couple shallow spots so we can try out our drone or just watch hundreds of tiny crabs all over the sand.

At the end of the day, we were soaked from ocean water. Both the adrenaline rush and water dripping from my clothes just amazingly made this hot day end in a perfect way.
